Dr Champion obtained his undergraduate MBBS at the University of Sydney, training in Paediatrics at the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network before gaining his paediatric fellowship through the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Following training in the Prince of Wales and Sydney Children’s Hospitals he obtained the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine through the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.
He has an empathic and contemporary approach to pain management, caring for patients with acute and persistent pain. Dr Champion seeks solutions through multi-disciplinary collaboration, medical therapies and targeted interventional techniques to relieve pain and improve function and quality of life.
With keen research interests into pain conditions across the life span he has published in peer reviewed journals, the International Symposium on Paediatric Pain and the Australian Pain Society Annual Meeting.
Whilst maintaining private and public roles in Pain Medicine and Paediatrics, he enjoys clinical and research supervision of junior medical doctors.
Professional memberships include the International Association for the Study of Pain and the Neuromodulation Society of Australian and New Zealand, Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and Faculty of Pain Medicine.
